The TV

For 11 of the 12 years I've been married, we have not had cable.  This last year we gave in a got some.  I have to admit that there are some definite perks like The Food Network, Discovery Channel, and Fit TV, but for the most part, I think is has caused me and my family to connect less and be couch potatoes more.  I think I'm the only one in my family who feels this way, but today I came across a blog that validated my feelings!

I think the biggest thing for me is that I realized I am watching people live life instead of actually living it!

So, as for me and my house (with much opposition I'm sure) we will TURN THE TV OFF!!  hahahah

The other members of your household have taken a vote. Sponge Bob wins!

I agree. We should all turn off the TV...unless of course my 2 year old daughter is so bored and won't let me do anything and I need a babysitter...wait...did I say I wanted to turn off the TV...

I find the Tivo (or generic DVR from the cable company) tends to make us watch TV less; you aren't just turning on the TV to fill the time, you're watching some specific thing that you actively want to see. Then when it's over, you turn it off. We watch Jeopardy (it's educational!), House, The Office, The Daily Show, Grey's Anatomy, and Lost.

Which is probably still too much. Ah well.
